Finally it became August. We have been so excited about getting started with a new season of Mixtape Mondays, as we are back with new fresh energy and an upgraded version of the project! We are proud to announce August month line-up:

02.aug: I.D.
09.aug: DJ Donna Summer
16.aug: Joe & Will Ask!
23.aug: Xinobi
30.aug: Highbloo

So let’s get started! Todays mix is from I.D. One of our true and faithful bass providers. We’ve been fascinated of his work on the famous Bass Music Blog and by his productions. His collaboration and free album release of Bass Music Sessions together with Baobinga, really opened up our eyes for I.D. and his blog work. During the process of releasing the free album, I.D. and Baobinga wrote diary on their bass blog. It’s very good reading, so we surely will recommend checking up on it Here. Besides that, I.D. is a tremendous and experienced DJ, which the mix for today shows. We won’t write anything about the content in the mix, cause I.D. wrote a great comment for the mix. We are proud of getting Mixtape Mondays kick started in such a good way. Enjoy.

“I’ve been doing a lot of mixes recently, and sometimes it can be hard to give each one a distinct identity.  It also makes you ask the question, ‘what I am trying to show with this mix’?  Sometimes you need to do a mix to show promoters what your club sets are like, or a selection of your own tracks to show where your productions are going.  On this occasion I just wanted to enjoy a couple of the tunes I listen to at home, but don’t play out.  It starts deep with Tim Hecker, who I’m a huge fan of – I love the abstract nature of his tunes, I love the noise, and the slow shifting textures; and then segues into a new release on Hotflush from Sepalcure, who take the same kind of vibe but bring a beat into it too.  From there I’ve included some dubs from local producers Skinnz and Phaelah,  before taking it darker, colder and more dancefloor for a while.  I finished the mix off with a personal favourite from my back catalogue – “Into The Air” was the final track on my & Baobinga’s first album ‘Big Monster’, and it was kind of our attempt to do an electronic, but rocky sort of sound.  It’s slow, it’s quite melancholic, it’s distorted and it’s definitely not dancefloor, but it’s one of those tracks that as a producer you have to do sometimes – just to remind yourself that you can do more than just club bangers!” – I.D.
